James Taylor
Born in England, raised in France, I have always been curious about the world. My first experiment was throwing a chair out of a window with an action man parachute attached to it. Luckily the chair smashed upon impact because the second part of the experiment was for me to jump out of the window with the parachute.
I studied BSc Medical Sciences at the University of Leeds, England, where I became interested in Neuroscience. I therefore did a MSc Neuroscience at University College London (UCL), England, where I was interested in molecular neuroscience and neuropsychiatric disorders. From there I realised I wanted to understand how the brain processes the outside world and moved into systems neuroscience. I did my PhD in the lab of Jan Grundemann at the University of Basel, Switzerland. From there I wanted to work on helping people who could not process the outside world correctly and started a postdoc in the lab of Tania Rinaldi Barkat, University of Basel, Switzerland. I started working on neuroprosthetics for sensory restoration and want to further understand them to help the millions of people suffering from disorders.
